AN EXTRAORDINARY COLLABORATION

We are thrilled to invite you to our Visiting Artist Series as we unveil the works in our ninth installment on Thursday, April 14 from 5:00-7:00 pm. Through the Lens of an Artist will display an impressive selection of photographic prints by internationally acclaimed artist Sarah Webb. Please join us for an indulgence of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and live jazz by Teri Reid.

Webb, a leading figure in the Contemporary Realism movement is best known for her works in oils, but unknown to most collectors she is also an accomplished photographer.

After receiving her formal art training in America, she moved to London, England in 1983 where she studied art and photography. There she witnessed first hand the post-Cold War return to prosperity and spent the next two decades capturing on canvas and film the emergence of modern European culture.

This exhibition serves as a record of times, places, people and events. It includes photographic scenes from London, Paris, Venice and Amsterdam that have never been exhibited in public before. Many prints, like Les Deux Magots – Paris, Café de Flore – Paris and the Basilica di Santa Maria Della Salute – Venice date from the late 1990s.

Webb’s work is represented in numerous private and corporate collections worldwide as well as the Tennessee State Museum.

Sponsors of the Visiting Artist Series include FirstBank Mortgage Partners – Green HillsAmerican Home Shield, and Windmill Title.

Join us Thursday, August 20 for our Visiting Artist Series

We invite you to join us for art, jewelry, food, wine and live music as we celebrate our 8th Visiting Artist Series event on Thursday, August 20 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.

Our artist on display is Arthur Kirkby, a multi-media artist inspired by Andy Warhol through the book Edie. Using his love of Warholesque colors and found objects, he immortalizes the icons he comes in contact with. His first work captured the essence of the much-loved Miss Sarah Cannon, aka Minnie Pearl, and can now be seen hanging in Connie Britton’s “studio” on the set of the TV show Nashville. Part camp and part pop-culture comment, his work is brilliant in every way.
